About 6,500 5 to 7 inch white suckers were planted by LLA with funding support from We Really Kare Fishing Club and Friends of Long Lake.  Suckers are a very important part of the fish population, providing a food source for fish of all sizes. Mature suckers spawn as the water warms up in early May and the minnows are eaten by smaller fish like perch and crappie. As they grow the suckers become a food source for larger game fish.
