For summer 2024, LLA’s zebra mussel study will continue in the same locations as in 2023.  Last year the study determined that the colonization evident in Long Lake is considered average among lakes in the WDNR database.  The sampling study provides an opportunity to observe zebra mussel changes and spread across the lake over several full seasons.

Zebra mussel plates like the one shown were installed Memorial Day weekend at docks around the lake.  They will remain in place until Labor Day weekend.  The plates will be examined for colonization after the season.
